Green in '09

Most screen printers use an ink called plastisol ink. As its name entails, this ink is essentially plastic. This plastic ink not only causes a stiff, abrasive feel on apparel, but contains many harsh chemicals and an incomprehensible list of ingredients. It is widely used in the industry because it is extremely easy to use and is inexpensive to manufacturers.

At Wingman Styles we choose not to conform to the industry standard. Great strides have been made in recent years to develop high quality water-based inks. These inks are extremely environmentally friendly, last the life of the garment, and even give the garment a softer feel.  Essentially, these water-based inks out perform their plastisol counterparts.

The downside to this environmentally friendly ink would be a slight increase in cost (that we absorb) and the fact that these inks are slightly more difficult to work with. We felt the concept of going green should not affect you as the consumer, therefore we absorb the small increase in cost and take pride in the struggles we face in order to aid the environment.

When you receive your Wingman Styles garment in the mail, you will also notice our attention to the environment. First we protect the garment in transit with the use of a recyclable plastic bag. We distribute our products in recycled shipping boxes or envelopes. In order to reduce paper waste, you will be emailed a copy of the purchase receipt. We would formerly send a full size invoice on dramatic company letterhead in order to further impress the consumer. We now realize that protecting and appreciating our environment is much more impressive than flashy paperwork. Of course, if you would like an official invoice, we are more than happy to provide that for you upon request.

In summation, Wingman Styles is a company that is environmentally conscientious and motivated toward making the world a better place, both naturally and socially.
